My New Work

I like my new work schedule for some reasons, but there is one reason why I hate it. First, I like it because I get out of our house as early as 5 in the morning and it is still very cold, no heat from the sun, and I don't need to rush to get a ride at public vehicles because there are less commuters during early in the morning. I dislike it because I have to wake up early which I am not used to. Nevertheless, I have more positive reasons than negative ones.  My work ends at 3 in the afternoon, which is good enough for me run some errands, pay the bills, shop at the supermarket for food, or buy some important stuff. Furthermore, I can finally have time to go out with friends on special occasions. (Hmmm, looking forward to seeing my old colleagues whom I have been promising to go out with, yet I didn't have much time.) I like my recent work. It is not new to me, yet, I still have more things to learn and bestow. Now, this prompted me to update my blogs. Previously, when I wa...

Sinulog 2011 Experience and the Heavy Rain

I am finally seeing the sun shining out today after a few weeks of heavy rainfall. I did not enjoy much the Sinulog season because of the continuous rain that made me sick. I got soaking wet while my husband and I joined the procession of the Sto. NiƱo image and then we watched the Pyrotechnic contest at SM Cebu last Saturday. Then we watched the Sinulog Parade during the day, and fireworks display at night at Ayala, Cebu last Sunday. The experience made my husband discourage to join again next Sinulog season. He hated the heavy traffic and the experience of running after a taxi cab or public vehicle just to be able to get a ride when exodus of spectators went home after watching all the Sinulog events the whole day. Nevertheless, it was a very memorable experience because it was the first time I celebrated the Sinulog season with a partner, a special someone, my husband. We met our old high school classmates, ate and drank a few beers, then headed towards the Sinulog parade after...

Things That I Have Learned From My Call Center Experiences

Image
I have worked for more than three years as a call center agent, with two different big companies and a small one that just started out to expand. I have stayed for three consecutive years with an American call center company, five months with a British, and four months with an Australian call center company. It was such a nice experience because apart from the good pay, each of the three companies were from three different continents that have different English accents, so I had the opportunity to learn three different accents. It was full of memories, good ones and bad ones, but it substantially helped me as a communicator, and now as a writer. The American company that I have worked with for my first time as an agent was an outbound call center. We did surveys and interviews with American households everyday. At first, I was thrilled of how I was going to handle the flow of conversation with the American people especially with the irate ones. Irate respondents (that is what we call...

I Live a Simple Life

I live a simple life. I do not wear fancy clothes , I am comfortable wearing plain polo shirts and pants. I do not wear high-heeled shoes, I can can walk fast and easy with flat sandals. I do not wear make-up, I believe that simplicity is beauty . I do not own a car, I can ride a tricycle and jeepney. I do not eat at cozy restaurant for fine dining, I crave for simple, yet healthy Filipino foods. I do not have a managerial or supervisory job, but I am being paid for my talent and excellent skills (huh! excellent!).
